Jungle Jib is on point: Park Update

Shredders,

We are stoked with how the season has progressed so far.  It's awesome to see how you have contributed to make the park as fun as possible. If you have ideas you haven't told us, the Shred Bolton Facebook page is a great platform to express your ideas.

Any input you provide is seriously considered. Shredder Max Ryan gave us an idea for a flat rail which we liked so we put it in the next day.

We know you all like The Jungle, but if you haven't landed all the tricks you were working on it's time to get up there! Next Tuesday park crew is preparing for the Tell A Friend Tour on Sunday the 12th presented by Line's Traveling Circus.  We will be rebuilding the park Tuesday and Wednesday making an extra special setup for you and the Line fellas.

Stay tuned this week to learn what we have in store for this years Wednesday Night Rider Series. We are still working on the schedule and format for the season. While we finalize the details, organize your bag of tricks in The Jungle and get stoked for the new year.

Sincerely,

Shred Bolton

Bolton Valley Terrain Park Update

 Fellow Shredders,

Bolton Valley is ready to tap all that potential we've been talking about. Terrain Park Managers, Anthony Staples and I (Jeremy Hulsey) are working hard to unveil a fresh new park experience for you, the Bolton shredders. Throughout the season we will be dedicated to providing parks for all levels of skiing and riding. Whether you're ready to try your first  50-50 on the progression box or you're game for any feature we throw at you. We will make sure the park is primed and ready.

We've had a rough start with some unseasonably wet weather, but last night we blew a little more snow, so The Jungle will be on point and ready to be explored by Christmas. Today snow crew has focused efforts to the Butterskotch park to make some jumps and a next level slopestyle course.

Looking forward:

If you accidentally bought a pass to another mountain, don't stress, we will have plenty of events and programs for you to come try out our parks.

Wednesday Night Rider Series - This year we are bringing this competitions back to it's OG days. We are still working out the details, but be ready for bigger prizes, better setups, and tons of fun!

Bolton Valley Edits -Bolton is looking to work with skiers, riders, filmers and photographers to properly represent our terrain parks. If you and your crew are looking to film here let us know!

Park Clinics - Days when the park crew is ready to teach park newbies a thing or two about jumping and sliding down stuff.

Much Much More - We are brainstorming non stop to make sure Bolton is as epic as possible this season. If you have any ideas, comments, or questions, feel free to post on our Facebook page @ ShredBolton. In the mean time come shred with us and Stay tuned for photos and videos of our setup in the Jungle.

Yours Truly,

Shred Bolton

Jungle Jib to Open Soon

What's that they say about the best laid plans? Yeah, so we had best intentions of getting the Jungle Jib open this weekend. But the unusually wet weather, coupled with some freezing rain and a power outage, has delayed the opening of the Jungle Jib. The park crew will work on getting it back together tomorrow in the soft snow. We'll be able to open it up pretty shortly after the temperatures drop on Monday evening. Hang in there, we're as anxious as you to get the park open.

Welcome to the Jungle (Jib)!

We've got fun and games. We've got everything you want. And honey, we know the names.

Yes, it's true, parks crews are working on Jungle Jib as I write this, and we hope to have it open either tomorrow (Friday) or Saturday.

Word on the chairlift is that it's going to feature a mixed bag of straight rails, flat boxes of different widths and lengths, as well as a few corrugated pipes/rails. I don't want to spoil any surprises, but I hear there might be an oil drum too, but you'll have to come up and see for yourselves!

Stay tuned to the snow report for official updates, but I fully expect to camp in the park this weekend, take some awesome footage of you all throwing down, and put together our first park edit of the season.

Stay fresh,

~Mike

Opening Day is Friday, Dec. 13

Who's pumped for Opening Day?!?

Thanks to some cold days that helped the snow makers get ahead of schedule, Opening Day has been bumped up a day and we'll open for the season on Friday, December 13th! There's some snow in the forecast for this weekend as well, so hopefully that will pan out.

We can't anticipate what future conditions might allow, but we are making snow on Alta Vista and hope to open it on Saturday. We will not have any terrain park features this weekend but plan to add some next week as snow surfaces allow. The first night of night skiing will be on Wednesday, December 18th.

Pre-purchase lift tickets and save $10 per day this weekend. Lift tickets on Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be $35 for all ages at the window. Purchase online now for just $25 and save $10.

Get ready for the season by purchasing a 2013-14 Bolton Valley All Access Season Pass.

Powder Passes are also on sale now and allow you to ski 5 days for the price of 3. Each Powder Pass is loaded with five All Access Lift Tickets that you can use any day this season for just $199 Adult and $149 Youth/College/Senior. Hurry, Powder Passes will not be on sale after December 13th.

Welcome to Winter 2013!

Hello, Bolton Valley!

I'm Mike and I'm the new Snow Reporter for the '13-'14 season. I'm stoked to be here at Bolton and I can't wait to get to know everyone. We're going to be doing some really fun things with the Snow Report this year, so be sure to follow that when we open up next week.

Now, trust me when I tell you we're all as excited as you are about getting up on the slopes again, and fortunately, after a bit of a warm spell, we're looking at some colder temps outside today. Overnight drizzles turned into snow early this morning, and we've picked up about an inch or so of the white stuff. It's currently 29 degrees and overcast here at the base, and it looks like we could be seeing some more snow showers starting this evening and on-and-off through Monday night.

Our snow makers are also expected to start working their magic again tonight. So that's awesome.

We're in full-on winter mode here around the resort and hopefully you're all ready to get going when we open up on December 14th. With a little luck, who knows - we might even be able to start the season on Friday the 13th instead.

So, who's got dibs on first chair?

~Mike

The stakes are high; one adult and one youth winner will take home a 2013/2014 All Access Season Pass for the best skim. Registration begins at 10am. The entry fee is just $5 per skimmer and you must have a lift ticket or season pass to enter. If you feel like dry is more your style, come out to watch the splashes and listen to some great music. WIZN radio host Joey Vega will be the special guest announcer for the afternoon.

Pond Skimming Tomorrow 3/23!

Alright, you've hit every feature in the Jungle Jib this season. Once Butterscotch opened up, you were the first in line. You were a dedicated Night Rider. You hit the US Airbag more times than you can count. So this weekend, cap off your season of shred with Rock n' Roll Pond Skimming. You've got to know you have the upper hand here. You've been jibbing with the best of 'em, your balance has been tested...what's there to lose? Well, maybe your dryness...but no big deal. You can find more info on Pond Skimming below:

WIZN presents Rock and Roll Pond Skimming. We'll be awarding a 2013-14 All Access Season Pass to one adult and one youth winner. Each winner needs to have an outstanding costume and a solid skim. I'm thinking big hair and spandex myself...
For those who don't care to skim, come spectate! There will be great music and even better splashes. WIZN radio host Joey Vega will be the special guest announcer for the afternoon.

The Lowdown: The entry fee is just $5 per skimmer. You must have a lift ticket or season pass to enter. Skimmers may only use skis or boards to attempt to skim the pond, sorry no sleds, jack jumpers or anything else that is not a pair of skis or snowboard. Bolton Valley rental or lease equipment may not be used to skim the pond. All skimmers will go in bib order.
Schedule:
10am - Noon: Registration in the Base Lodge
1pm: Skimming begins!
3pm (or shortly after the skimming is competed): Awards

Night Rider Finals

Don't forget, Night Rider Finals are Wednesday, March 20th.

St. Paddy's Rail Jam

The sun came out for a few hours as we spent the afternoon hitting some of the features in the Jungle Jib. Both the Jungle Jib and Butterscotch Park are open!

Happy St. Paddy's!

Park Updates

Happy Friday. The first update is that the Jungle Jib has re-opened and has a couple new features, so be sure to check it out.

And the second update is less an update and more of a gentle reminder, no a forceful reminder, no a demand that you hit the US Airbag before it leaves on March 10th. You only have a few more days to get some of your biggest air and work out a new trick that might not be ready for a full snow landing. 3 jumps will only run you ten bucks, so get to it.

Night Riders Schedule Update

The weather has been a bit tricky this year. We've had everything from sub-zero temps, to rain to high winds and heavy snow. We've tried to rearrange the schedule the best we could. This week the Night Riders schedule will continue with a Rail Jam. Finals will be held next week on Wednesday, March 13th. This means we will only hold five regular events plus the finals this year. Thank you for your support of Night Riders and let's finish of the year in style with two more fun events.

See you on Wednesday.

US Airbag is here!!

US Airbag is here at Bolton Valley from March 1st to March 10th. If you've ever been aerial-curious you'll want to give this a go. US Airbag is a bit like terrain park training wheels. You can give new tricks a try by landing on a huge, inflatable airbag. Or, take your first ever jumps.
US Airbag won't be here for very long, check out the schedule then register today, or in person the day you want to make the leap.
3 jumps $10
10 jumps $25
25 jumps $45
(All participants must also have a Bolton Valley lift ticket for the day or valid season pass.)

Stay tuned, we'll have pics of the airbag in all its glory, coming soon.

US Airbag

Have you ever wanted to huck yourself off a jump into a giant airbag? You'll get your chance later this week Bolton Valley. More details soon. For now, check out this video.

Butterscotch: Sweet and Tasty!

Butterscotch: It's not just for Nana....

The Butterscotch Park is open and ready for you to show off some serious steeze. The oil can has moved to Butterscotch and is now set up as a double jump. We suggest showing the presidents some respect this weekend with a little air, what else are you going to do with that extra day? Homework? House chores? Uh, no. Time to shred it.

And Sunday we have a bonus night of $19 night skiing, so you'll have even more time in the parks. See you out there!

Grabbin' Some Air

A few shots from Sunday's incredible day...

Jungle Jib Back In Action

The Jungle Jib is back in action. It'll be a similar set-up to what it has been recently.
  • Up-Flat Box
  • Progression Rail
  • 20' Tube
  • 18' Straight Box - set down or street style
  • Oil Can - set on a quarter pipe
  • Table Jump

Park Makeovers

The heavy rain and warms temps we saw this week certainly did us no favors in terms of keeping the parks in good shape. We're now in rebuild mode as we work on re-positioning rails and touching up features.

Park crews will be working hard to get both Butterscotch Park and the Jungle Jib in good shape as soon as possible. Until then, enjoy the mountain and stay tuned.

Night Riders Postponed

Thanks to the unseasonably warm and wet weather we are postponing tonight's (January 30th) Night Riders. The snow is getting super soft and the rails are pretty loose, so a rail jam is just not possible at this point. We'll be back at it next week. Check the event page for the schedule.

Night Riders: I'll be Back!

After a chilly week off, Night Riders will fire up again next week, Wednesday January 30th. If you've never checked out Night Riders before, here's the basics:

Skiers and riders compete under the lights in the Bolton Valley terrain parks for prizes every Wednesday night. The event set-up changes each week to keep things fresh - sometimes it's a rail jam, sometimes it's a full slopestyle, and sometimes anything in between. Come to every event and collect points for bigger prizes to be given away on the final night of the series.
  • $18 registration includes park lift ticket (per event).
  • $12 registration for pass holders (per event).
Butterscotch Park and Jungle Jib are in great shape with 16 features between them. With a tiny warm up in store this weekend, don't miss out on the BV parks.

Butterscotch Park Opening!

Butterscotch Park will be opening up tonight for night skiing and riding. Here are the features we've installed.

1st Deck:
Trap Box
Street Rail: Down/Flat/Down

2 Tables: One is described as "large" the other is "medium/large."
